The Club
The Nevada Yacht Club (NYC) was formed in 1963 with its foremost purpose being the encouragement of sailing as a sport and recreational activity. Over the years, the NYC has grown to over a hundred members who have on thing in common: the love of sailing and boating! The NYC continues to grow and to promote sailing, boating and seamanship through seminars, social functions and an active racing and cruising program.
General Meetings are held on the third Friday of every month with the exception of November and December. Meetings start at 7:30pm. Most meetings are held at the Lake Mead Marina restaurant although some are held closer to town. Check out the calendar to find the next meeting date and location.
Most Nevada Yacht Club events are based out of the Lake Mead Marina as this is where most members keep their boats. Skipper's meetings are usually held on the patio before races. NYC races are open to all (members enjoy discounted entry fees). We encourage anyone interested to come to a general meeting to meet the membership or show up to a skipper's meeting to get in on the racing action. Most of the time walk on's are welcome as crew and if all of the boats are full the Race Committee can always use the help.
